Whatever it is, sharing your passion makes all the difference.
DAY 1
-
Restorative Justice
Rachel kicked off the Summit with a session about RJ. She covered the differences between Proactive and Reactive circles and then led us in a RJ circle focused on the topic of “Our Martig Identity”.
We all determined that we could utilize the principles of Restorative Justice in multiple ways in our daily lives!
-
Chinese Medicine
With Nicole, we journeyed through the history of Chinese medicine, specifically the practice of acupuncture. We learned that acupuncture can help us maximize our ch’i, the energy moving through our body via meridians. Then Nicole stuck us all with the tiny needles to experience it for ourselves!
We nourished our post energy-maximized bodies with delicious sloppy joes made by Hannah!
-
Wine 101
After the clock struck 5, Monica gathered everyone together for Wine 101! We learned the lifecycle of the grape from the vineyard to the bottle. As we tasted six wines, we talked about the four main characteristics of wine and how to properly taste and develop your palate!
Dinner was a group effort. We cooked up pork tenderloin in cream sauce, green beans, fluffy roast potatoes, and garlic bread.
DAY 2
-
Cleaning the Cabin!
After breakfast, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work making the cabin sparkle! Claire (and Sean) bravely climbed the ladder to clean the windows. The gals scrubbed and dusted every inch inside and the boys did maintenance outside. Even the antlers got a nice polishing!
-
Creative Flow
Claire taught us the importance of creativity and focusing on the process, not the product. With a variety of mediums and tools, we drew, stenciled, stickered, colored, and painted to our hearts content.
Nicole filled our bellies with a delicious lunch of homemade tomato soup and grilled cheese.
-
Surviving the Wilderness
Shawn taught us that the most essential tool in your go-bag is a deck of cards. You’re your own worst enemy when you’re lost in the wilderness! Also, if you must leave your spot, find water (like a creek) and walk along it. And predators aren’t that big of a deal; they’re more scared of you than you are of them (yeah, right).

Theories of the Universe
Mindful, intentional action and reflection can change your perception and experience of life’s most impactful moments. Always remember, your existence is part of someone else’s story.
We ended the night with more great conversation and connection around the firepit!
On Day 3, we reflected on the joy we felt in spending intentional time together and our learnings from each other.
We were all sad to leave Moosebend, but felt rejuvenated from the Summit. We are looking forward to returning for Summit 2024!
